Daniel J. Cohen
A seasoned, innovative, results-driven entrepreneur and writer, Daniel J. Cohen is the Founder and Lead Writer at RedShift Writers, LLC. Cohen’s classical copywriting training combined with his diverse practical business experience have positioned him to serve as the voice for companies in need of powerful messaging tailored to the digital/social media era.
Cohen and RedShift Writers craft compelling, high-powered business writing for their clients at lightning fast speed. Cohen has planned, written and edited copy for over twenty successful, content-rich websites, including companies in the energy, workforce logistics and marketing industries. He has also written blog posts, press releases, advertisements, SEO articles, brochures, videos, commercials, product descriptions and bios for clients in a vast array of businesses.
In his pre-entrepreneurial career, Cohen built the official PR function at two companies, constructed an in-house marketing department from scratch, and served as the consistent voice of multiple brands in the form of web copy and social media messaging. Cohen served as the PR manager at TestMasters Education Services, where he developed from inception a Facebook page of more than 43,000 fans, and led or advised in the creation of three high traffic blogs. He also led TestMasters to the championship round for Houston companies and the national bracket in the Business Journals’ social media competition #SocialMadness. Most recently, he worked as the Head Writer at The Greensheet, a Texas-based marketplace with combined print and online distribution of approximately 2 million monthly readers. Cohen’s strategic-minded decision making and creative leadership helped propel these businesses forward.
As a company founder, Cohen’s community activities include serving as Creative Director of the inaugural TechStreet Houston Conference taking place in 2013, as well as serving as the Programming Director and Outreach Coordinator for the Executive Entrepreneur Hour with John “JonyProfit” Whaley. In 2014, Cohen became the Organizer for Ignite Houston, an ongoing series of events featuring championship speakers giving 5 minute speeches with twenty slides on 15 second auto-advance.
Cohen’s background in writing is highly industrially diverse. He has trained himself to tackle content tasks in almost any industry, ranging from highly technical oil and gas or IT writing to B2C product sales and more. He has written in almost every business tone, length, format and customer context.
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Cohen received his B.A. in political science from American University in Washington, DC. He also has a Master’s Degree in public relations from the University of Houston. Cohen loves learning, reads voraciously, writes at least 2,000 words per day, and networks at every opportunity.
